Visual Mechanics Union is a film and television production collective founded by Bruce McDonald, one of Canada’s most celebrated and influential directors. The company aims to produce original and diverse stories that reflect the Canadian culture and identity. The company has a talented and creative team of writers, producers, actors and crew who work together to bring McDonald’s vision to life. Visual Mechanics Union has produced several acclaimed films and shows, such as Highway 61, Hard Core Logo, Twitch City and Weirdos.

BRUCE McDONALD

Bruce McDonald is a Canadian film and television director, known for his distinctive style and genre-bending works. He has directed over 30 films and TV shows, including Roadkill, Hard Core Logo, Pontypool, and Weirdos. He is also a co-founder of the indie film collective Visual Mechanics Union. Bruce McDonald is a visionary storyteller who explores themes of identity, culture, and music in his films.

Felicity Woolf is Bruce McDonald’s secretary. She graduated top of her class from Tokyo University with a degree in media studies and moved to Canada to pursue her dream of working in the film industry.

Duke Redbird is one of the founding members of the Visual Mechanics Union. Redbird’s prophetic wisdom, which transcends both time and space, has influenced all of the groups’ films. He is also responsible for building maintenance and custodial services.

Coco Lecavalier is the financial manager of Bruce McDonald’s Visual Mechanics Union. Coco is also the only three-time champion of Nunavut’s all-female medium weight kickboxing league. She is also a mentor and advocate for young filmmakers of color.
FAROOK ALI KAHN
STORY OFFICER
Farook Ali Kahn is the Chief Story Officer at Visual Mechanics Union. Farook is responsible for finding and developing original and compelling scripts for film and television. He has a keen eye for talent and a knack for spotting potential hits. He is also an avid reader and a fan of graphic novels.
MASAKO ONO
Publicity
Masako Ono is the publicist at Visual Mechanics Union. Masako handles the publicity and marketing campaigns for the company’s films and shows. She is an expert in creating buzz and generating interest among audiences and critics. Masako was born and raised in Kyoto, Japan, where she studied twentieth century propaganda tactics. She moved to Canada in her sixties and joined Visual Mechanics Union after working for several of the world’s leading intelligence agencies. She loves traveling, photography and ricin.
Leonard Richler
Legal
Leonard Richler is a lawyer who specializes in entertainment and Sicilian law. He represents Visual Mechanics Union, and moonlights for several other “families” in the Italian restaurant industry. He advises them on contracts, licensing, minimum required grave depths, concrete shoe patent law, and other legal matters. Leonard has a wealth of experience and knowledge in the field and is respected by his peers and clients. He is also a fan of Canadian literature and claims to be a very, very distant relative of the late author Mordecai Richler.
